The 2018 Todd Taylor Democratic Gain Honoree, Peter Corroon

Peter Corroon serves in several positions in the real estate development profession.  He is the President of Sentry Financial’s Real Estate Division.  In addition, he manages Corroon Company which provides real estate consulting services to non-profit organizations, and is a Managing Member of Red Gate Properties, LLC which he and his brother have owned and managed since 1995. 

Peter previously served as the Chair of the Utah Democratic Party for three years and as Salt Lake County Mayor for eight years.  As Mayor, he managed up to an $850 million budget and over 8,000 employees and 36 agencies that provide nearly 100 services for the health, safety and welfare of over one-million residents of Salt Lake County, Utah. 

Peter Corroon has a long record of public service.  He currently sits on several non-profit boards and was responsible for starting a non-profit affordable housing company to serve unmet housing needs in Salt Lake City.   He has served as president of the boards of local non-profits including Friends of Alta, Catholic Community Services, Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity and the Salt Lake Vest Pocket Business Coalition, a group of locally owned and managed independent businesses.  He was appointed as a Small Claims Court Judge in Salt Lake’s Third District Court.  While mayor, he served on the boards of the National Association of Counties, the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce where he received the Best Elected Official award, the Economic Development Corporation of Utah, the Salt Lake Convention & Visitors’ Bureau, the Utah Technology Council, and the United Way, among other organizations.

Peter and his wife, Amy, reside in Salt Lake City with their three children.  The Mayor has a twin brother, Christopher, who lives in Salt Lake City.
