2019 Taylor & Mayne Nominations **CLOSED**

Todd Taylor and Ed Mayne were pillars in the Democratic Party who believed in the importance of growing the grassroots community and the Democratic base in Utah. They were tireless advocates for the everyday Utahn, the everyday Democrat, and they were fundamental in getting our party to where it is today.

Every year, in their honor, the Utah Democratic party recognizes two activists without whom our party wouldn’t be the same. The following criteria will be used by a committee to select the 2019 Todd Taylor and Ed Mayne Award recipients:

TODD TAYLOR DEMOCRATIC GAIN AWARD – Nomination Criteria

Todd Taylor was the Executive Director of the Utah Democratic Party for 20 years. As the longest standing ED in the country, he started his political career as a volunteer for the Davis County Democrats on the campaign to elect J. Del. Holbrook. Todd saw politics not as a war, but as a battle between different points of view and to be grounded with respect. Todd Taylor was an institution in our Party and will always be remembered and honored as such.  The recipient of this award should met the following criteria:

* Visibility within the Utah Democratic Party
* Visibility within the community
* Long-term commitment to the Democratic Party
* Long term commitment to the continued growth of the Utah Democratic Party
* Available to accept the Award on Friday, June 21, at the Taylor & Mayne Dinner.

The Todd Taylor Democratic Gains Committee will be meeting to determine the winner on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. at UDP HQ, 825 N 300 W, Suite C400, Salt Lake City, UT 84103.

ED MAYNE LABOR CHAMPION AWARD – Nomination Criteria

Senator Ed Mayne served in the Utah Senate from 1995 until his death in 2007.  As the youngest person to be elected as President of the Utah AFL-CIO, he is not only remembered for championing working men, women and families, but also for his good humor and gentlemanly demeanor.  Sen. Mayne was a pillar of democratic values in Utah and in his own community of Kearns and as a tribute to his impact, has a high school football stadium and a road in Kearns that bear his name.  Ed embodied the values of the Democratic Party and the Labor Community.  The recipient of this award should meeting the following criteria:

* Visibility within the Utah Democratic Party
* Visibility within the community
* Long-term commitment to the Democratic Party
* Long-term commitment to the Utah Labor Movement
* Available to accept the Award on Friday, June 21, at the Taylor & Mayne Dinner.

The Ed Mayne Labor Champion Committee will be meeting to determine the winner on Thursday, May 9, 2019, from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. at UDP HQ, 825 N 300 W, Suite C400, Salt Lake City, UT 84103.
