“ABSOLUTELY IRRESPONSIBLE”: UTAH DEMOCRATS CALL OUT REP. CARL ALBRECHT FOR BRINGING SHOTGUN TO CONSTITUENT MEETING
SALT LAKE CITY, August 31, 2023 –– Following reporting from the Salt Lake Tribune’s Robert Gehrke about Republican Rep. Carl Albrecht bringing a shotgun to intimidate constituents at a meeting about the Sevier River, Utah Democratic Party Chair Diane Lewis issued the following statement:
“Republicans love to talk about responsible gun ownership, but apparently they don’t practice what they preach. Rep. Albrecht bringing a shotgun to a constituent meeting and using it as a political prop to intimidate those who disagree with him is absolutely irresponsible and totally unbecoming of an elected leader. If Republican leaders are serious about ‘disagreeing better’, they should be quick to publicly condemn Rep. Albrecht’s ridiculous behavior, and Rep. Albrecht should issue an apology to his constituents.”
