CELESTE MALOY DOUBLES DOWN ON SUPPORT FOR CUTTING SOCIAL SECURITY
SALT LAKE CITY, October 27, 2023 –– During last night’s CD-2 debate, DC insider Celeste Maloy doubled down on her support for cutting Social Security and Medicare. When asked what the candidates would do to ensure that seniors continue to receive full Social Security benefits, Maloy said: “I don’t know that just trying to find a way to continue offering the exact same program is the right answer.” She made similar comments in a televised Republican primary debate in August, in which she said “we’re going to have to make tough choices” when it comes to “entitlement reform.”
In contrast, Kathleen Riebe said that “there is no way that I would ever look to take away Social Security” from our seniors who have paid into the program their entire lives.
“The people of Utah cannot risk sending another extremist insider to Washington who will rip away our seniors’ hard-earned benefits,” said Utah Democratic Party Chair Diane Lewis. “In Congress, Kathleen Riebe will never vote to cut Social Security, and she will always fight for Utah seniors.”
