ICYMI: REP. QUINN KOTTER EMBARRASSES HIMSELF IN STRANGE COMMITTEE MEETING MONOLOGUE
SALT LAKE CITY, January 25, 2023 — Yesterday, during a meeting of the House Health and Human Services Committee, Republican state Rep. Quinn Kotter (HD-26) embarrassed himself, launching into a long, nonsensical monologue in which he pulled out a Bible and read from it to justify his vote for a punitive, draconian bill which would penalize medical professionals for providing gender-affirming care to trans kids.
During this puzzling rant, Rep. Kotter also seemed to describe his own personal body image struggles, which he was fortunately able to receive treatment and support to overcome, right before voting to prevent trans kids from receiving the same kind of care and support.
“In less than two weeks in the legislature, Quinn Kotter has already aligned himself with some of the most extreme factions of the Republican supermajority and proven that he has no interest in getting things done for the people of the west side,” said Diane Lewis, Utah Democratic Party Chair. “His embarrassing monologue in the Health and Human Services Committee last night just further proved that he cannot be trusted to represent his diverse district in a serious manner.”
