SEN. KATHLEEN RIEBE WINS DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION IN CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT 2
SALT LAKE CITY, June 28, 2023 –– Tonight, as part of the special election process to replace Rep. Chris Stewart in Congress, Democratic delegates in CD-2 voted to decide their party’s nominee for the race.
The results for this ranked-choice election are as follows:
Round 1
Kathleen Riebe: 85.56% (243 votes)
Guy Warner: 12.67% (36 votes)
Archie Williams III: 1.76% (5 votes)
“First of all, I want to thank all the delegates and candidates who participated in this election, and I’d like to personally congratulate Sen. Riebe on her victory,” said UDP Chair Diane Lewis. “Unlike the Republican party, we are emerging from our convention united behind our nominee and ready to hit the ground running in the general election. Between now and November, we’re going to talk to voters across the district about the stark contrast between Senator Riebe’s common sense approach to public service and the Republicans’ extreme agenda.”
“I’m honored to accept the Democratic nomination for Utah’s Second District. Now the work begins. I’m looking forward to a campaign focused on Utah families, workers, and all those who are more interested in building for a brighter future than clashing over political parties and issues designed to divide us,” said Senator Riebe.
