2024 Utah Democratic Convention Results

April 27, 2024, Cottonwood Heights - Today, the Utah Democratic State Convention occurred, as thousands of elected delegates gathered at Cottonwood High School to select the Democratic nominees for elected office. Delegates voted in the districts in which they are registered to vote using a ranked-choice voting system.  

Constitutional Revisions

The following proposal to revise the party constitution was accepted by 95.47% of the Delegates.

The following uncontested candidates were nominated by acclamation and will advance to the General Election: 

  • Brian King, Governor

  • Catherine Voutaz, State Auditor

  • Neil Hansen, State Treasurer

  • Bill Campbell, U.S. House District 1

  • Brian Adams, U.S. House District 2

  • Glenn Wright, U.S. House District 3

  • Nancy Huntly, Utah Senate District 2

  • Stacy Bernal, Utah Senate District 3

  • Aaron Wiley, Utah Senate District 8 

  • Corbin Frost, Utah Senate District 26

  • Kris Campbell, Utah House District 4

  • Amber Hardy, Utah House District 6

  • Sharon Hilton, Utah House District 12

  • Julie A. Monahan, Utah House District 59

  • Joe Christman, Utah House District 67

  • Davina Smith, Utah House District 69

  • Carol Barlow Lear, State Board of Education District 6

  • Deborah Gatrell, State Board of Education District 10

The results for contested races are:

U.S. Senate

  • Caroline Gleich - 795 votes

  • Laird Fetzer-Hamblin - 48 votes

  • Archie Williams III - 16 votes

As Caroline Gleich received over 55% of the votes in the first round, she will advance to the general election as the Democratic nominee.

U.S. House District 4

  • Katrina Fallick-Wang - 117 votes

  • Jonathan Lopez - 59 votes

As Katrina Fallick-Wang received over 55% of the votes, she will advance to the general election as the Democratic nominee. 

Utah Attorney General

  • David Carlson - 282 votes

  • Rudy Bautista - 511 votes

As Rudy Bautista received over 55% of the votes, he will advance to the general election as the Democratic nominee. 

Utah House District 1

  • Claudia Bigler - 3 votes

  • Chris Reid - 0 votes

As Claudia Bigler received over 55% of the votes, she will advance to the general election as the Democratic nominee. 

Utah House District 23

  • Hoang Nguyen - 39 votes

  • Jeff Howell - 29 votes

As both candidates submitted signatures, they will advance to the Democratic primary. 

Utah National Committeewoman

  • Clare Collard - 530 votes

  • Audrey Evans - 136 votes

  • Susan Merrill - 159 votes

As Clare Collard received a majority of the votes in the second round, she will begin serving as the new National Committeewoman on August 23, 2024.

Utah National Committeeman

  • Matthew Fatuesi - 40 votes

  • Brad Townley - 486 votes

  • Steve Merrill - 152 votes

  • Antonio Esquibel - 120 votes

As Brad Townley received a majority of the votes in the third round, he will begin serving as the new National Committeeman on August 23, 2024.
