Biden-Harris Administration protecting Utahns from wildfires

May 20, 2024, Salt Lake City - The Utah Democratic Party celebrates the Biden-Harris Administration’s investment of $5.5 Million to protect Utah homes, businesses, and families from wildfires, per a May 15 announcement. This funding is made possible by President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

The funding is allocated to the Salt Lake City Fire Department, Rim to Rim Restoration, and the Shivwits Band of Paiute Indians, and will be used to prevent wildfires as well as prepare comprehensive wildfire responses. The funding will benefit communities in Salt Lake City, Moab, and the Shivwits Reservation.  

“Wildfires have long been a threat to Utah families,” UDP Chair Diane Lewis said. “President Biden is taking a proactive approach to natural disaster prevention that will protect Utahns.”
