Utah Democrats Welcome Tim Walz to the Harris Ticket
August 6, 2024, Salt Lake City - Vice-President Harris announced today that she has selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. Governor Walz is a former teacher, a veteran, and most importantly, a champion for working families.
Here’s how Tim Walz has stood up for Minnesota families:
He lowered the cost of insulin to $35 a month, preventing pharmaceutical companies from taking advantage of Minnesotans.
He signed the largest tax cut in the state’s history, putting more money in the hands of families.
He eliminated junk fees, protecting Minnesotans from corporate cash-grabs.
He passed paid leave so parents could take care of sick family members without risking their jobs.
“Governor Walz is the right choice for Harris’ running mate,” UDP Executive Director Thom DeSirant said. “As the next Vice-President, he will build on his pro-family agenda and fight for the economic well-being of all Americans, not just the privileged few. Walz’s policies appeal to working people - that’s why he was able to flip a solidly red Congressional District in 2006. His electoral strength and rural relatability will help the Harris Campaign defeat Donald Trump this November.”
