John Johnson's Actions Have Revealed His True Colors for Years
October 30, 2024, Salt Lake City - Senator John Johnson, the Republican incumbent in Senate District 3, has focused much of his political career on policies that seem to push Utah back to an earlier era, prioritizing party politics over common-sense solutions for today’s challenges. From claiming that “anti-racism is racism,” to voting in favor of government handouts to big corporations, to trying to put the Ten Commandments in Utah school curriculum, John Johnson’s actions reveal just how disconnected he is from the needs and concerns of his constituents, underscoring a concerning lack of empathy and commitment to their well-being.
This Election Day, we have a critical opportunity to vote Senator John Johnson out of office and elect a leader who genuinely represents Senate District 3. In a recent Change Research poll, after receiving information on both candidates’ platforms and backgrounds, Stacy Bernal and John Johnson were tied at 45%, with 10% of voters still undecided. After months of work and years of advocating for the community, momentum has shifted towards Democratic candidate, Stacy Bernal. With six days to go, every vote matters in choosing a leader who will prioritize the needs and values of our community; that leader is Bernal.
“Utahns deserve leaders that act in the best interests of all Utahns, not just the privileged few. John Johnson wants to waste your tax dollars on propping up big corporations and forcing his political and religious beliefs on your children,” Utah Democratic Party Chair Diane Lewis said. “Residents in Senate District 3 prioritize quality public education, environmental protection, and accountable government over divisive political culture wars. We don’t need a multi-millionaire who immediately self-funded his campaign with $100,000 telling us how to live our lives or raise our children. It’s time for new leadership. I call on Utahns to support Stacy Bernal, the representative candidate for Senate District 3, one that will ensure that your voice is heard.”
